July 27, 2019 - Chichagof Island AK: Hoonah and Warm Springs Bay

We left Glacier Bay and crossed Icy Straight and spent the afternoon/night in Hoonah, a small Tlingit town.  We did a bit of grocery shopping and some laundry.  We do have an apartment-size stacking washer-dryer onboard Adagio but when there are 4 people, it is easier to just do multiple loads in a laundromat or in the marina facilities.

Planning our trip through the small town of Hoonah

Hoonah Harbor

Difficult to get lines through the weeds on the dock.
This is the first place we've boated to where a weed-eater
would have come in handy  :-)

The town of Hoonah

We made an early departure from Hoonah for a long day south to Warm Springs Bay.  As it went from morning to afternoon, it got a little bumpy out there.   We knew that the bay we were going to would be nice.   There is a hot spring there that you can hike to, and they have piped the water down to a bathhouse as well.  There is a nice boardwalk connecting all the cabins that people have here.

The free public bathhouse (donations only) that can be used by anyone

The upper pool - way too hot

The lower pool, we could just get into as it was a  bit cooler

When we first arrived in this bay there was an aroma here like flowers
and the cats were very interested
starting drone flying again!
Drone flying was prohibited by law for the past week.
We've been in a National Park for a week.

We saw this barge headed north, notice the school buses on top in the back
