We left Petersburg on a sunny 70 degree day. The motor came in and Steve picked it up at
noon at the airport, came back, installed, and did a quick test.

The rebuilt electric motor. Without this unit working we cannot raise or lower our anchor. Without this motor we cannot get back home. |
Steve ran the motor in both directions and it all sounded good so we would be continuing
south and needed to leave around 1:30pm for the trip down the Wrangell Narrows
to have favoring currents throughout.

Seine Skiff made at Mavrik Marine in La Conner!
People always stopped to look at it and comment how nice it is. |

Petersburg as we leave south in Wrangell Narrows.
We are riding with a 5 knot current pushing us the correct direction. |
We decided on Exchange Cove and entered with no other boats
around. It was 8pm but the kids went for
a kayak ride toward a pass between two islands. We did not have much more time than that
before dark. The bay is extremely quiet and the fish are jumping so we
attempted to get a picture of one. The northern lights are supposed to be peaking in a few days. We have clear skies so we set an alarm for 1:00AM in hopes of seeing them. no luck tonight. No northern lights.

Our best fish jumping picture! Fish were jumping all over the bay for hours. |
In the morning we left with very calm conditions.

ReplyDeleteThanks, it has been fun! We plan and watch weather every day and night, currents and tides for our next day transit. Ya know, it is not all fun and games out here. hahahahahah
