Another foggy morning as we motor south. We seem to be in a new weather pattern with fog in the morning which lifts in the afternoon. The mountains along these reaches of the inside passage are upward
of 3000ft so it is disappointing when we can’t see anything. We typically start by 6am with one of the
kids helping knock down the anchor chain pile (something we have still to resolve) while Steve drives and Kathy
brings the anchor up. The kids then
sleep for the first 3-5 hours of motoring, how nice! The hum of the engines does seem to make us
sleepy at times.
This is that cruise ship that was to be on the other side of the breakwater dock. Glad that smaller vessel moved. |
The channel in the afternoon was so calm, and the fog lifted. |
Lowe Inlet is just beautiful. It was late afternoon when we arrived. The kids were not interested in much outdoors, plus it was a little windy with some flied. The "reaches" we have been traveling through
seem to have wind from one direction, but you can go around a curve and the
wind changes direction completely!
Kathy and Steve went to go check out the waterfall by
kayak. It was really neat because there
were salmon jumping and trying to make it up the river. What a hard life, and for what, to spawn and
then die? What dedication.
